Some things cannot be argued into or out of. This is about those things.
“Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
— Howard Thurman
“Ask yourself in the most silent hour of your night: must I write? Dig into yourself for a deep answer. And if this answer rings out in assent, if you meet this solemn question with a strong, simple 'I must,' then build your life in accordance with this necessity.”
— Rainer Maria Rilke
“Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical; don't edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.”
— Kafka

Read by Swae · Coming soon
It arrives before you do
Tying you to a future you might try to run from
It does not knock.
It does not wait to be invited.
It is already at the table
when you sit down to eat,
already in the dark
when you reach for sleep.
You have tried to reason with it.
Laid out the numbers,
the risk,
the smarter path.
It listened.
Quietly.
Curiously.
Without arguments or complaints.
Because this is not ambition.
Something that can be talked out of itself.
This is older.
This is the thing that was there
before you had words for it,
pulling quietly,
the way gravity pulls,
without asking for your permission,
without needing your belief.
And you won't outrun it.
But you already know this.
It will be there again tomorrow
before the alarm,
before the coffee,
before the version of you
that knows better.
